HCA 345 - Human Resources Management in Health Care

 

This course is designed to introduce students to the management of human resources in contemporary health care organizations. This course presents a broad overview of the field of health human resources management, and provides students with an opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies for effectively managing people in health service delivery contexts.

The learning outcomes of this course are:

  • Identifying the challenges confronting health care organizations in Canada in the context of managing their human resources
  • Understanding the role of health care professionals in the human resources management function of health care organizations
  • Constructing effective human resources policies for the effective management of people in health care organizations
  • Discussing the impact of legal considerations on key human resources management activities
  • Explaining the changing nature of jobs and how jobs in health care settings are being redesigned to enhance productivity and quality patient care

Pre-Requisites: HCA 210, HCA 250
