HCA 401 - Health Service Research Methods


The course covers the basics of scientific research, quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods research projects, research validity, matters of sampling and measurement, and specific methods to health services research. Topics of research ethics, evaluation of the research literature and proposal development are introduced.

The learning outcomes of this course are:

  • Recognizing the importance of how research can support health services administration
  • Describing a diversity of research methods used in health services administration research
  • Evaluating writings which utilizes health services research methods
  • Developing a research proposal for funding
